(1)Definition

Filling master material refers to the plastic processing and molding process, In order to facilitate the operation, Mixing the need for a variety of additives, fillers and a small amount of carrier resin to make grain, powder.

High filling masterbatch refers to the masterbatch with high inorganic powder content, and the general powder content is more than 80%. The limit of the accessory ingredient or the content of the filler in the high masterbatch is several times to ten times higher than the requirement in the actual plastic products.In the process of forming, the ratio of master material and matrix resin must be adjusted according to the content of related components in the master material and the amount to be added in the actual product.The main component of high filling master batch is filler, which is mainly used for processing and forming polyolefin (polyethylene and polypropylene), also known as polyolefin filling master batch.

(2)Basal component

1. Fillers

The main filler used for polyolefin masterbatch is heavy calcium carbonate, followed by calcium powder, talcum powder, kaolin and other inorganic fillers.

2. carrier resin

The performance and cost of polyolefin filled masterbatch mainly depend on the carrier resin, which usually contains 10%~20% of the carrier resin according to the different uses of the masterbatch.The carrier resin used for polyolefin filling master\ should have good compatibility with the plastic matrix resin filled.

3. Accessory ingredient

The main accessory ingredient used in polyolefin masterbatch are dispersants and surface treating agents.The effect of the dispersant is to improve the processing fluidity of the masterbatch, which is conducive to the more uniform dispersion of the masterbatch in the matrix resin. Surface treatment agent can change the surface activity of inorganic filler from hydrophilic to lipophilic, so as to facilitate mixing with carrier resin.

Application of three screw extrusion technology in filling masterbatch production

(1) The three - screw extruder solves the feeding problem of high mesh filler

The three screw extruder has a plurality of meshing zones, which is equivalent to a plurality of pairs of twin screws working at the same time, and the shear times of the material in which are doubled higher than that of the twin screw extruder, so it has a better plasticity effect.In addition, the three-screw extruder has excellent self-cleaning performance, which can avoid the occurrence of dead corners and make the products with uniform performance.

(2) Three screw extruder can reduce the amount of lubricant in the filling material formula, increase the amount of inorganic filler, so as to reduce the material cost

The three-screw extruder can achieve the same plasticizing effect by increasing the proportion of filler without adding plasticizer, which not only saves cost but also ensures the quality of masterbatch.
